Famed actress and (newly turned) climate change activist, Jane Fonda was arrested in Capitol Hill for taking part in a climate change protest on Friday.
The actor has taken a keen interest in saving Earth. She had told the Washington Post earlier that she moved to DC so she could actively fight against climate change.
“I’ve moved to Washington, DC to be closer to the epicentre of the fight for our climate. Every Friday through January, I will be leading weekly demonstrations on Capitol Hill to demand that action by our political leaders be taken to address the climate emergency we are in. We can’t afford to wait.”
Even before the day of the protest she tweeted saying that she’d take part in the Friday protest.
In DC at dinner with the young student climate strikers who have so inspired me. Sunrise Movement, Friday’s for the Future..they’re smart and brave.

The protest is called the ‘Fire Drill Friday’ which will happen every Friday.
“We’re going to engage in civil disobedience and we’re going to get arrested every Friday”, exclaims the 81-year old actor.
So much enthusiasm at this age. Wow.
