Emilia Clarke is heading into a dangerous new world, and Prime Video has finally revealed when fans can watch her next television project. The Game of Thrones star is joining Charlie Hunnam and Luke Evans in Criminal, an upcoming crime drama that will arrive in January 2027.
Prime Video has released the first teaser and confirmed a two-part premiere schedule for the eight-episode series. The first installment, Criminal: Coward, debuts on January 13, followed by Criminal: Lawless on January 27.
Emilia Clarke Enters a World of Crime and Complicated Relationships
Based on the acclaimed graphic novels by Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips, Criminal explores an interconnected world of criminals, family secrets and dangerous loyalties. Clarke plays Mallory, the girlfriend of Ricky Lawless, portrayed by Gus Halper. Her character becomes caught in the criminal chaos surrounding Ricky, who is increasingly struggling to stay out of trouble.
Charlie Hunnam leads the series as Leo Patterson, a man desperate to escape the criminal world in which he grew up. His childhood friend Ricky, however, has very different ambitions and wants to follow his father’s notorious outlaw legacy.
Things become even more complicated when Ricky’s older brother Tracy, played by Luke Evans, returns home after leaving his criminal past behind for military service.
Two Stories, One Dangerous Underworld
The series will unfold through two interconnected chapters.
Criminal: Coward, arriving January 13, follows Leo and Ricky as a disastrous heist and buried childhood secrets force them to confront their past. The second installment, Criminal: Lawless, premieres January 27 and shifts attention toward Tracy’s return to the criminal underworld after two decades away. Alongside Clarke, Hunnam and Evans, the cast includes Adria Arjona, Richard Jenkins, Kadeem Hardison, John Hawkes and Logan Browning.
