Adam Sandler Crashes the 2025 Oscars in a Hoodie and Basketball Pants

Adam Sandler just crashed the biggest Hollywood night! The actor made a surprise appearance at the 97th Academy Awards, at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, where he appeared in his signature style, a hoodie and basketball shorts. When the host, Conan O’Brien, shouted out and the camera panned to him in the audience, he said, “You’re dressed well, Adam.” With all eyes on him, Sandler responded, “Conan, what’s up? My brother, what’s going on, man?”

O’Brien said, “Adam, what are you wearing?” Adam was wearing a bright blue oversized Aviator Nation hoodie and dark blue Adidas basketball shorts with black detailing. Adam yelled back saying, “What are you doing right now?” to which O’Brien simply explained, “I’m asking you what you’re wearing.” Sandler reacted dramatically, saying, “Nobody even thought about what I was wearing until you brought it up.” O’Brien responded to Adam by noting that he was “dressed like a guy playing video poker at 2 a.m.”

But Adam Sandler was unmoved as he insisted, “I like the way I look because I’m a good person. I don’t care about what I wear or what I don’t wear. Did my snazzy gym shorts and fluffy sweatshirt offend you so much that you had to mock me in front of my peers?”

Later, the host, O’Brien, who was holding his laughter, apologized to Adam, saying, “Hey, I’m sorry,” “Adam, I apologize.”

Then, Adam had to leave the room, but not because of O’Brien’s joke. While leaving, Adam said, “It’s not you, no, it’s not you,” looking at O’Brien and the audience. But he also said, “It’s him,” as he was leaving. He looked at O’Brien and stated, “He’s the one who caused this,” and O’Brien replied saying “I’m sorry. I’m sorry.” 

Looking at the audience, Sandler said, “You are all welcome to join me for a game of five-on-five basketball at Veteran Park tonight, midnight,” and making his grand exit, he walked up to Timothee Chalamet with a running joke, saying his last name is an exaggerated fashion. Then, he kissed the actor on the head.

Adam had already made his first “Chalamet” joke at the January 2025 Golden Globe Awards, after the host, Nikki Glaser teased the Call Me By Your Name alum during the opening monologue. She told Timothee, “Your name sounds like something Adam Sandler would say.” Sandler replied from the audience with his spin on the pronunciation. Sandler had already pronounced his name in the same Sandler-ified manner at his latest SNL appearance, where he introduced Chalamet as a musical guest as Adam was on double-duty.
