Women have given birth in the weirdest situations. The current one topping the list is a woman who gave birth in a Tesla car that was driving on autopilot.

An American couple from Philadelphia set the record when Yiran Sherry 33 and her husband, Keating Sherry, 34 went to drop their 3-year-old son at preschool. Yiran was nine months pregnant and her water broke when they were stuck in traffic.

Though Keating tried his best to reach the hospital in time he understood that tending to his wife whose contractions were increasing rapidly, was more important than driving. He set his Tesla car on auto-pilot with the hospital as the destination and began assisting his wife.

He told the Inquirer that “She was squeezing my hand to the point where I thought she was going to shatter it. I was [saying] ‘Yiran, OK, focus on your breathing.’ That was advice to myself, as well. My adrenaline was pumping,” Yiran said that the 20-minute ride to the hospital was the most agonizing incident of her life as she kept glancing at the GPS.

The bay was just minutes away from the hospital driveway and the nurses cut her umbilical cord on the front seat of the car at the hospital entrance itself.

The couple thought about naming their baby girl Tess after the hospital staff kept referring to her as the “Tesla baby” but settled for their first option Maeve Lily Sherry. Elon Musk is yet to have a say in this wonderful event.
