That time when Donald Trump toyed with the idea of shooting immigrants

Roughly 3 months ago, in a rally on May 2019, Trump smirked at a remark by one of his white supporters that one of the ways to prevent immigrants from crossing the border was to shoot them.
Aftermath the El Paso massacre which claimed 20 lives, a video has surfaced online which shows Trump addressing a crowd of seemingly white supporters until the course of the conversation in that rally turned strange.

Speaking to thousands of people in Florida about keeping the Mexicans out in his usual jeering tone, Trump said, “When you have 15,000 people marching up, and you have hundreds and hundreds of [immigrants], and you have two or three border security people that are brave and great – and don’t forget we don’t let them and we can’t let them use weapons. We can’t. Other countries do, we can’t. I would never do that. But how do you stop these people?”

At which point a supporter from the crowd yells—“Shoot them!”

To which Trump nodded his head, smirking, trying to control his laughter said,‌“That’s only in the Panhandle you can get away with that statement.” And he was met with raving applause and roar from the audience.

Panhandle in this context is a region in Northwestern Florida.

What’s surprising is that Trump did nothing to curb the violent notion then and there. He has somehow managed to play it cool and insinuate white supremacist sentiments harboring among his supporters.

Even though Trump might not have spoon-fed his supporters the idea of shooting immigrants and for what happened at El Paso, he has stuffed their minds with enough harmful rhetoric and hatred against the non-white American population. Anyone in his place would have discouraged the discussion, but Trump went the other way around.

It is doubtful if he can ever sympathize with the families of the people massacred in any white-hate related crime. We have a President who would never pay his respects to the deceased as a result of white racist attacks. Sad to say, but the present American President is never around to comfort his people at a need of an hour like this when his people need him the most.
