Contrary to popular predictions on the demise of television, the television broadcasters have survived the internet boom and had only created additional avenues rather than a replacement. The Nielsen TV ratings are indeed proof of the pudding.

With daytime television shows becoming a mainstay since the 1960s, here are TV shows that have not just stood the test of time but have become en route to go on for many more decades reasserting the foothold of television on people’s lives and giving the cable network providers the boost needed to continue innovating in the medium.
