But later in a quick turn of events, ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok came to terms and persuaded the Indian Government to lift the ban. They had to since the ban was yielding “financial losses” amounting to more than $500,000 a day and risking 250 jobs. India is a crucial market for TikTok since out of 188 million new global users in the last quarter, 88.6 million sign ups have originated from India. That’s almost half.
