J.K.Rowling has given us a supernatural world to experience in the harry potter series. The last episode of the magical journey of Harry Potter is ‘Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows.’
Deathly hallows is the symbol of witchcraft ensembled in the last part of the harry potter series. The symbol comprises three promising artifacts.
In the world of wizardry, the owner of the three deathly hallows holds the ultimate power of cheating death. He is known to be the ‘Master Of Death.’ In the last series, ’Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows,’ Harry, possessing the three artifacts, cheats death. He dies temporarily and comes back to life.
The mystical symbol is depicted by a triangle with a ring in its center and a vertical line running through it.
The triangle- It represents the ‘cloak of invisibility,’ which is indestructible and came to Harry’s hands as a Potter-Pervell family heirloom.
The ring- The resurrection stone was bound to a ring. It has the power to bring back the dead ones’ from the world of death. Tom Ridley used it against the Gaunt family before turning to the deadly dark lord Voldemort.
The vertical line- It is the last Hallow, the Elder Wand. The Elder Wand is unbeatable which makes the possessor invincible in any battle faced. One of the murderous owners Loxias named the Wand ‘Deathstick.’ It is not a surprise that Voldemort was coveted by ‘ The Elder Wand.’
The origin of the Deathly Hallows is from Beedle Bard’s fairy tale, ‘The Tale of the Three Brothers.’
The three Peverell brothers Antioch, Cadmus, and Ignotus wander along a dark path. They come across the river of death. Being wizards all three cast spell for a bridge to cross over the river.
A dark-cloaked figure ’Death’ appears before them. The Death feels cheated and offers each of them a gift cunningly.
The eldest wizard, Antioch, asks for the most powerful unbeatable wand. The elder wand was created from an elder tree.
The second brother, Cadmus, mourning over his lost lover, asks for the power to bring the dead to life. A pebble from the river bank was turned into the Resurrection stone.
The youngest, Ignotus, not trusting Death asks for the means to walk away from death without being followed. Death reluctantly cuts off a piece of his cloak, making the ‘Cloak of invisibility.’
The Deathly Hallow teaches one need not fear death, ‘death is inevitable,’ it is part of life.
