Fortnite’s latest in-game emote is done with collaboration and Epic Games stated its new launch “The Renegade,” the trending dance move made by Atlanta teen Jalaiah Harmon in her TikTok. Further Fortnite’s twitter handle frankly quotes Harmon’s saying, “Go, go, go, go, let’s go and bust out some [fire] moves by @jalaiah.”
But it’s still unclear whether the gaming firm and Harmon have a licensing contract yet there are chances as the developer has a history of implementing dance moves in their games. During the rise of Fortnite in 2017 fall the games had several dances taken from the pop world. At times emote were from classic TV shows such as one of the dance moves from Scrubs star Donald Faison. But mostly these were found by black creators and then it became a trend on the internet.
Several cases were filed on Epic as they stated the firm used similar or same dance moves without permission and few are still continuing. But as of this case, it looks like Epic is explicitly mentioning the creator of the dance it’s latest emote emulates and it would be pretty weird to do such things without getting associated with Harmon to get it in the game.
