Rush (2013)

The biographical sports drama directed by the renowned filmmaker Ron Howard focuses on the rivalry between the two legendary Formula One drivers,  the Austrian Niki Lauda and the British James Hunt during the 1967 Formula 1 motor-racing season. Starring Daniel Brühl and Chris Hemsworth in the lead roles. The dangerous stunts are stunningly captured by Howard. The movie is power-packed with fast cars, races, and ultimate action. 

Need For Speed(2014)

The movie is based on the popular racing video game. Aaron Paul stars as a street racer Tobey Marshall who avenges the death of his close friend. The film is an action thriller having extreme action sequences featuring super sports cars of all-time Lamborghini Sesto Elemento and McLaren P1. The jaw-dropping stunts keep the audience on the edge of their seats. 

Bullitt (1968)

Bullitt is a 1968 American neo-noir action thriller film directed by Peter Yates. The versatile actor Steve McQueen’s iconic movie number is centric on the San Francisco cop Frank Bullitt who is all set to chase the gangster. It is a classic film for car lovers. The Green Bullitt Mustang’559 featured in the movie rocks the fiery streets of San Francisco in the action shots. “Bullitt contains one of the most exciting car chases in film history, a sequence that revolutionized Hollywood’s standards,” said critic Emanuel Levy in 2003. 

Drive(2011)

“Drive” is a 2011 crime thriller film directed by Nicolas Winding Refn and starring Ryan Gosling, Carey Mulligan, and Bryan Cranston. The movie follows a Hollywood stuntman who works as a getaway driver for heists in his spare time and gets involved with his neighbor and her young son stuck in the dangerous underworld of crime.

The film received critical acclaim for its stylish visuals, tense action sequences, and Gosling’s performance. The soundtrack, composed by Cliff Martinez, also received praise for its atmospheric and synth-heavy sound. The dark thriller earned a standing ovation at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival during its debut.

Death Race(2008)

“Death Race” is a science fiction action film directed by Paul W. S. Anderson and starring Jason Statham, Joan Allen, and Tyrese Gibson. The movie is set in a dystopian future where private corporations run the prisons where the inmates must battle to the death in brutal car races.

Jason Statham plays Jensen Ames to earn his freedom, he is forced to take part in the Death Race and compete against a field of deadly opponents.

The movie got mixed reviews; some praised the over-the-top action and Statham’s performance, while others berated it for its excessive bloodshed and lack of character growth. In spite of the negative reviews, “Death Race” was profitable enough to produce two prequels and two direct-to-video sequels.

The Fast and the Furious(2001)

The “Fast and Furious” series is a popular action film franchise that started in 2001 with the release of “The Fast and the Furious.” The series revolves around the world of illegal street racing and follows a group of characters who become involved in various criminal activities, including theft, heists, and espionage.

The main characters in the series are Dominic Toretto played by Vin Diesel, Brian O’Conner played by the late Paul Walker, and Letty Ortiz played by Michelle Rodriguez, among others. The series has also featured a number of talented casts including Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Jason Statham, Charlize Theron, and Gal Gadot.

Nine movies have been produced in the “Fast and Furious” series as of 2021, the most recent being “F9,” which was released that year. The show has also given rise to spin-offs, such as “Hobbs & Shaw” (2019), which stars Johnson and Statham as series characters.
