The Senate rejected Ocasio-Cortez’s Green New Deal in a 57-0 vote on Tuesday.
What is the Green New Deal?
According to Wikipedia, The Green New Deal (GND) is a proposed economic stimulus program that aims to address climate change and economic inequality. It is a bold transformation of the economy to tackle the twin crises of inequality and climate change. It puts forward the need for resource utilization to stabilize the economy rather than succumbing to exploitation. Clean energy and dignified work are the two major drivers of the GND.
GOP senators have ridiculed the plan, unveiled in February by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez D-N.Y., and Sen. Edward Markey, D-Mass.
Their claim was that the deal was far too ‘elitist’ and too far fetched rather than being practical and solving the problems at hand. So much that Senator Mike Lee from Utah took an unconventional route in blasting the Green New Deal using his degenerate inner troll while using everything from posters showing Aquaman and Star Wars characters to quotes from Austin Powers to paint the bill as “ridiculous” and something that would never pass in Congress and never work.
And amidst all of this, his solution was– To have more babies. Makes one wonder how an illiterate of this stature entered into National Politics.
The Bronx Democrat tweeted after the measure failed by a vote of 0-57.
But for those who think that the idea is too elitist, we would just like to leave you with a video below and decide for yourself:
