“Make a wish“.
Give me a solid Box office opening this weekend.
That wish has probably been granted. And we doubt if it could get better.
Disney etched its name on the top of the Box Office charts with its real-life adaptation of the popular cartoon series Aladdin, starring Will Smith as the Genie. It fetched $85 million in three days and is on course to amass $100 million in the Memorial Day Holiday weekend.
The success of Aladdin is a huge sigh of relief for live action arm of Disney, who have been largely reliant on the Marvel universe to churn huge profits. Disney’s Avengers: Endgame is still going strong adding $16.8 million over the three day weekend.
Aladdin received worldwide praise and its global collection soared making $207 million on the three-day weekend. Among its foreign collection, China, Mexico, UK contributed the most.
As per sources, Aladdin is expected to go strong. Apart from Will Smith, the film stars Mena Massoud as Ali and Naomi Scott as Jasmine.
