We are so used to superhero action movies where an innocent kid with humble means grows up to be the caped guy with immense strength and power, going about saving the lives of ordinary people.
The movie, Brightburn delves into the idea that a kid with the superpowers needn’t always be the good guy.
Brightburn explores the sinister side of the Superman-esque story– A baby with superpowers, from a far away planet crash landing on Earth, raised by a childless couple. However, unlike Superman, this child grows up to wreak havoc with his abilities, mercilessly killing people and destroying things along the way.
James Gunn of Guardians of Galaxy fame is one of the creative minds behind this movie. Sony Pictures released the first official trailer for the superhero and horror genre mashup back in December 2018.
Now it has released the second trailer that one can’t help but sit up and take notice, with horror-lovers longing for this movie to hit the theatres.
Brightburn, in many ways, reminds us of Superman– Heartwarming fields, dangling clothesline, a rusty mailbox, and, of course, a red cape.
Brightburn is due to release on 24 May 2019.
