The medicos in the United States are in a plan to inject 2 female sex hormones into men to enhance their immune system against the novel coronavirus.
This is because women across the world are less affected by the disease and are comparatively have stronger immune to fight against the virus.
Research scholars have been on the process of finding out whether the estrogens are protective as per sources.
And 2 healthcare centers in the country have been implementing the test by providing men with estrogen and progesterone for a particular period to check whether it enables them to enhance their immunity, cut down swelling, and compress the severity of sickness.
The comparison of deaths among male and female are quite evident from the time of the outbreak of COVID-19.
Earlier in March Italy’s health research stated that 70% of the death rates have been men and not women. Prior to this, China’s ‘Center for Disease Control and Prevention,’ told that the disease was 65% more in men than women.
Scientists report state that they are wondering how women are less affected or not prone to death due to the novel virus. They have come to a perception that it might be due to the better immunity power that women have.
This was more obvious in the U.S especially in New York where 60% of deaths were men.
Initial days of research have also said that “the hormones may reduce the number of ACE2 receptors on the surfaces of cells that the virus uses to enter the body.
Further Dr. Nachman Associate Dean for Research at the Renaissance School, which is part of the State University of New York, stated that: “’It’s totally out of the box, which is how good ideas often start.”
If the trial becomes successful then there are chances for estrogen to be given to men to control the disease.
