A handwritten thank-you note from Jolie has resurfaced online, and people cannot seem to agree on whether her writing is genuinely difficult to read or whether many people have simply forgotten how to read cursive.
The note was reportedly written in 2023 for staff at the Aldemar Olympian Village resort in Skafidia, Greece, where Jolie stayed while filming Maria. The photograph has now made its way back onto social media and sparked a surprisingly big debate.
Angelina Jolie’s Handwriting Goes Viral
The handwritten message is short, but that has not stopped the internet from turning it into a reading challenge.
Some social media users have described Jolie’s writing as scribbled and difficult to decipher. Others have said they can read it without much trouble and believe the reaction says more about people’s familiarity with cursive than Jolie’s handwriting itself.
One viral reaction even suggested that people who cannot read the note have a “skill issue,” while others joked that younger people need to learn cursive to understand Jolie’s writing.
What Does Angelina Jolie’s Note Say?
For anyone still trying to decode the handwriting, the message is actually quite straightforward.
Jolie thanked the resort staff for a restful stay and mentioned that the Maria cast had enjoyed their time there. She signed the note with “With love, Angelina Jolie.”
So, no hidden Hollywood message or mysterious celebrity confession. Just a handwritten thank-you that became an internet puzzle.
Expert Opinion
The renewed interest in Jolie’s handwriting has also opened up a conversation about cursive writing. Cursive was once commonly taught in American schools, but its place in classrooms declined as typing and computers became more important.
Shawn Datchuk, a professor at the University of Iowa, noted that what looks readable to one person can be difficult for another.
Some people immediately recognize the letters and can work out the message from context. Others are staring at the same words, wondering how anyone managed to read them.
Is Angelina Jolie’s Handwriting Really That Hard to Read?
Celebrity stories usually revolve around relationships, fashion, movies or major public appearances. There is no new movie announcement or dramatic revelation behind it. Instead, an old thank-you note has suddenly become a test of how well people can still read handwritten cursive.
And judging by the reaction online, plenty of people are happy to take the test.
So, can you read Angelina Jolie’s handwriting at first glance?
The internet clearly has very different answers.
