Netflix Cancels Neil Patrick Harris starrer Uncoupled, After One Season

The cancellation of the comedy series was not a surprise, as Netflix’s rating system serves as a disadvantage for half-hour TV series.

Netflix Cancels Neil Patrick Harris Starrer Uncoupled, After One Season

Netflix canceling its TV shows after one season has become a usual practice recently. From Cowboy Bebop to 1899, the streaming service canceled numerous shows after they failed to impress the rating system. This rating becomes the deciding party despite the positive responses from critics and fans. And Neil Patrick Harris’ comedy series, Uncoupled, has become the latest show to fall victim.

The first season of Uncoupled was released on July 29, 2022, and mostly received good responses from critics and viewers. However, Netflix’s viewership numbers did not achieve the expected level. Also, the series secured a place in Netflix’s Top 10 just once since its debut.

From creators Darren Star (Emily in Paris) and Jeffrey Richman (Modern Family), Uncoupled revolves around Michael Lawson (Harris). Lawson’s 17-year-long partner left him, leaving the protagonist a single gay man in his mid-forties in one of the country’s busiest cities, New York. Alongside Harris, the show also stars Tisha Campbell, Emerson Brooks, Brooks Ashmanskas, Tuc Watkins, and Marcia Gay Harden.

So far, Netflix has publicly announced and secretly canceled several original shows, leaving its potential unexplored. Some of the major projects of the streaming service this year include The 90’s Show, You, The Witcher, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, and more.
