Kurt Cobain’s used paper plate fetches $22K at auction!

In 1990, Kurt Kobain, the frontman of Nirvana ate a slice of pizza off a plate before a show in DC. These were the days when fame had not struck him and was just another young gun with rock n roll dreams. After being done with the pizza, he turned the plate upside down and scribbled a set list in black marker.

Last week that plate was sold through Julien’s Auctions’ “Music Icons” auction. The auction house which priced the dirty plate not more than $2000, sold for a staggering $22,400 along with a letter of authenticity.

The plate was collected by Johnny Riggs of the band THUD. He had opened for Nirvana on that night on April 23, 1990, and cheekily took the plate after the show.

The music icon committed suicide on April 5, 1994, in Washington. In a short span of time, he amassed a huge cult following and became immortalized in his songs which continue to inspire generations.
