I hope you wouldn’t be surprised if I told you that The Simpsons is older than many readers of this millennium.

I hope you wouldn’t be surprised if I told you that The Simpsons is older than many readers of this millennium. To put things to perspective, The Simpsons debuted on Dec 17th, 1989, and currently 31 years young and running strong.

Although researchers across the world are in various stages of testing and trails of identifying the right vaccine to cure Covid-19 why leave the chance of exploring an occurrence in the past for finding a clue for the Covid-19 cure as well.

In the long illustrious history with dozens of awards under its belt, The Simpsons gained a growing fanbase especially for its nature of eerily predicting the happenings of the future, many a time a decade in advance. Here are three cherrypicked instances to make the case in point

  1. The Ebola Epidemic (2013-2016) – The 1997 episode ‘Lisa’s Sax’ referred to a book Curious George and the Ebola Virus with Bart pointing at a drawing depicting an apocalypse where he is dead, there is blood and bodies everywhere and the sky appears to cry.
  2. Trump Presidency (2014) – “Bart to the Future” episode of The Simpsons, which aired on March 19, 2000, predicted a Donald Trump presidency.
  3. Disney purchase of 21st Century Fox (2017) – In the episode “When You Wish Upon a Star” aired in 1998, the 20th Century Fox studio’s headquarters reveals that it is “a division of Walt Disney Co.”
