The Ridley Scott directorial Gucci is set to premiere by 2021. As per sources, the rights of the film have been obtained by MGM.
The movie revolves around a real crime incident that is adopted from the death of fashion pioneer Maurizio Gucci which happened in 1995. The movie is expected to hit the theatres by November 24th next year.
Further, the film has pop sensation Lady Gaga on board as Gucci’s former spouse Patrizia Reggiani who was alleged of planning the murder as she found that he had an illegal affair.
The story is written by Roberto Bentivegna and is inspired by ‘The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed’ by Sara Gay Forden.’
The movie will be produced by Gianna Scott alongside her hubby Ridley through their Free Banner and stated that: “This project has long been a labor of love for both Ridley and me. “The story is so epic, the stakes so high and the characters so richly are drawn that we were determined to get it to the big screen. To say we are thrilled to be teaming with Mike De Luca and his brilliant film group at MGM is an understatement.”
Besides MGM chairman De Luca said that: “Nothing typifies bold, audacious originality more than a film by Ridley Scott,” and “all of us at MGM are incredibly excited to be in business with Ridley, Giannina and the whole team at Scott Free.”
Ridley, who is currently filming ‘The Last Duel’, will complete it and kick start ‘Gucci’.
