Disney+ has this crucial edge over Netflix and Amazon

After initial plans to give Netflix a run for its money, Disney+ streaming service is officially launching on Nov. 12, 2019, and will cost $6.99 per month. This is the most aggressive move by Disney to extend its legacy in the streaming war.

With content Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar and their very own Disney brands, Disney plans to appeal a wide range of audience spanning multiple demographics.

Disney’s CEO Robert Iger said: “It was important to remind you that we’re starting from a position of strength, confidence and unbridled optimism.”

Disney might have an edge over Netflix and Amazon in terms of balancing content and marketability. Netflix and Amazon relies way too heavily on marketing their shows and movies. On the other hand, Disney is a trusted brand in the realm of entertainment. Its formula to create quality content is tested and connects with the audience.

Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon just happened to stumble across video entertainment, unlike Disney which has been in the entertainment industry so long that we can associate our childhood with. They tryst of nostalgia and timeless entertainment that Disney built over the years is inseparable to us. From  Mickey Mouse in ‘Steamboat Willie’ to Rapunzel in Tangled, Disney has been churning content that resonates joy and happiness in us.

Netflix, Amazon, Hulu and the latest Apple TV+ are more technical and not about feelings. Disney has defined feelings for decades. Therefore with Disney Plus many will already have a ready-made reason to embrace it more than their competitors think.
