Rewinding 30 yrs back where he was at a law school as a first-year in Aspen Colorado Hyman found a small startup company for law in real estate. To settle permanently he aspired to be a real estate lawyer.

But soon his plans changed when his then-girlfriend and now wife moved him to San Francisco where he left realty law and went on to work for Webvan when dot-com was soaring in the market.

Speaking on this he jokingly said: “I like to say it was well ahead of its time.”  Who later has J.D from the University of Virginia and wide bankruptcy in law but sadly had no job after the firm went down in 2001.

Soon in that year, Hyman was hired for the general counsel position to the then startup Netflix. Today the firm has reached heights globally becoming one of the best online streamers with 167 million subscribers. David has also grown since stating that the Netflix series and movies are a “full-time hobby” and he heads a team of 650 legal officers across the world that has the most influential deals in Hollywood.

Now David has been handling two positions as content producer and distributor and has been traveling to and fro from Los Gatos to Los Angeles. He said that: “I often talk about it like, ‘We’ve gone from being a company that sells cars to a company that manufactures and distributes cars,’” and that means everything from negotiating the talent arrangements to dealing with the physical production to dealing with the labor guilds. All those areas of expertise had to be developed at Netflix over the last 18 years, and really the last five years as we’ve ramped it up.”

Adding to this he stated that: “Things are always changing. It’s never the same company, in many respects. I thrive in that environment.”
