David Corenswet of ‘Hollywood’ recently shared on his poor acting in the series and said: “The highest compliment I could possibly get is that my bad acting is believably bad.”

In the mini-series set in the 1940s, David portrays Jack Costello a young lad who wishes to etch great heights in the entertainment industry.

But sadly he couldn’t give what is expected and later he ends up getting a screen test after making love with a casting director who keeps shouting his dialogues and keeping his away from the lenses.

Graduating from the school of Juilliard David is no less when it comes to performing. It’s challenging for him to do a character that is hopeless. “We’re playing characters who are themselves actors, who in the show are making a movie where they have to be acting as well,” he says of the challenge. “You’re going three layers deep, where nobody knows who anybody is or what acting is anymore at all.”

To be more specific “You have to sort of inception [it].”

Fortunately, the dialogues were with a built-in guide that enabled to balance the scene. He went on to say that: “For my one big moment, where I’m supposed to be really, really bad, immediately afterward you hear Joe Mantello’s [character] describe why I was so bad,” Corenswet says. “I just decided to do exactly what he described, because he says, ‘He just yelled at her the whole time and then turned away from the camera.’ [So I did that].”

He kept adding that: “It was a lot of fun,” he says, “having no pressure to be good but having this great challenge of trying to be specifically bad.”

Despite the challenges given to him David says that was what Hollywood was and told: “That’s my most fantastical dream, of getting to pretend that I’m in Singin’ in the Rain or all those great movies from the golden age of the studio system.”

Hollywood now premiering on Netflix!
