‘American Idol’ finalist Caleb Kennedy left the reality show after a controversial Snapchat video of himself. The video features Kennedy hanging out with a friend wearing a white hood similar to the ones worn by Ku Klux klan members
Caleb Kennedy, 16-year-old singer-songwriter on American Idol, will no longer be a part of the reality show. Caleb posted about this on his Instagram stating that he “displayed actions that were not meant to be taken in that way.” I was younger and did not think about the actions, but that’s not an excuse,” he said. “I wanna say sorry to all my fans and everyone who I let down.”
He also added that he will take a little time off from social media to better himself. He also apologized to people for making them hurt and disappointed. He ends the statement by saying “I’m so sorry!”I pray that I can one day regain your trust in who I am and have your respect! Thank you for supporting me.”

Kaleb’s mother, Anita Guy, released a statement saying that the video was misinterpreted “This video was taken after Caleb had watched the movie The Strangers: Prey at Night. Kennedy and his friends were imitating those characters and it had nothing to do with Ku Klux Klan. His mother said Kaleb does not have a racist bone in his body and he loves everyone and has friends of all races.
