Amazon Hires 100,000 New Employees to Meet Rising Demands

Empty streets, vacant malls, and washed out shelves in retail stores have all contributed to the rise in people opting for online shopping. Social distancing is also one of the main reasons people don’t want to step out of their houses. So, to cope up with the increase in demand for door-step delivery, Amazon has confirmed that 100,000 employees will be hired for the same globally. Along with this, the company has also stated that there’ll be a $2 increase in the $15/ hour wage for the employees depending upon the location.

It is indeed good news for all the workers who lost their jobs due to various shutdowns during this period of crisis. “We also know many people have been economically impacted as jobs in the area like hospitality, restaurants, and travel are lost or furloughed as part of this crisis. We want those people to know we welcome them on our teams until things return to normal and their past employer is able to bring them back”, wrote the company on its blog.
