The horror community was hit with somber news this week as legendary actor Bruce Campbell diagnosed with incurable cancer. The 67-year-old Evil Dead icon took to social media on Monday, March 2, 2026, to share a personal health update with his millions of followers, describing the situation with his signature blend of bluntness and resilience.

In a heartfelt statement shared on X and Instagram, Campbell revealed that while his condition is “treatable,” it is “not curable.” The actor expressed that the news came as a shock to him as well, but he chose to go public to stay ahead of potential misinformation.

“Hi folks, these days, when someone is having a health issue, it’s referred to as an ‘opportunity,’ so let’s go with that,” Campbell wrote. “I’m having one of those. It’s also called a type of cancer that’s ‘treatable’ not ‘curable.’ I apologize if that’s a shock—it was to me too.”

Because of the diagnosis, the “King of B-Movies” announced that he will be scaling back his professional commitments. Fans who were looking forward to seeing him at various summer conventions will unfortunately have to wait, as he has canceled several upcoming appearances to focus on his medical care.

However, Campbell remains optimistic about his future projects. He mentioned that his primary goal is to undergo treatment over the summer so that he can be healthy enough to tour this fall for his new movie, Ernie & Emma, a road-trip comedy which he wrote, directed, and stars in. Additionally, he continues to serve as executive producer for the upcoming film Evil Dead Burn, currently slated for a July 2026 release.
