Zelda Williams has made a powerful and emotional appeal: she wants people to stop sending her AI-generated videos of her late father, Robin Williams. In a post on her Instagram Stories, she described the trend as “disgusting, over-processed hotdogs” and asked fans to stop believing she wants to see or will ever understand such content.

She called it a violation of his legacy and a dehumanizing misuse of technology — especially painful because he can’t defend himself. Zelda emphasized: “It’s NOT what he’d want,” and urged people to consider decency over digital mimicry.

AI, Legacy & Consent: A Bigger Conversation

This isn’t the first time Zelda has spoken out. She’s long opposed unauthorized AI recreations of her father, especially during the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike when deepfake voices and likenesses were a hot topic.

Her plea also echoes broader debates over consent, ethics, and control in the age of generative AI. Are we honoring legends — or turning them into static templates for viral content? As she says, “legacies of real people be condensed down to ‘this vaguely looks and sounds like them’ … for cheap TikTok puppetry.”
