We officially know Denis Villeneuve is directing the next James Bond movie and now we’ve got a major update on who’s writing it. None other than Steven Knight, the mastermind behind Peaky Blinders, is on board. With this powerhouse duo steering 007’s future, we’re already dreaming of sharp suits, darker themes, and slow-burn swagger.
Knight, known for gritty dramas like Eastern Promises, Locke, and of course, Peaky Blinders, will reportedly pen Bond 26 alongside acclaimed director Denis Villeneuve, who’s fresh off the Dune franchise. With this dream team in charge, expect Bond to ditch the glossy spy fantasy for something moodier, deeper—and maybe even dangerous.

While the next Bond himself is still uncast (names like Jacob Elordi and Tom Holland are being tossed around), the writing and direction signals a whole new era. Knight has teased cinematic ambition before—once joking that Tommy Shelby could give 007 a run for his money. Well, now he literally might.
Amazon MGM, which now holds creative control of the franchise after a billion-dollar deal, seems all-in. And with Villeneuve promising to “honour the tradition” while charting “new missions,” this reboot might just be the Bond film we didn’t know we needed.
