To identify the world’s most polluted cities, 24/7 Tempo reviewed data from the World Health Organization on the concentration of harmful air particles in more than 2,600 cities around the globe.

Xinxiang, Northeast China

• Population: 5.7 million
• PM2.5 pollution per cubic meter: 84 micrograms on average annually
• PM10 pollution per cubic meter: 144 micrograms on average annually

Khulna, Bangladesh

• Population: 665,000
• PM2.5 pollution per cubic meter: 84 micrograms on average annually
• PM10 pollution per cubic meter: 94 micrograms on average annually

Karachi, Pakistan

• Population: 14.9 million
