Drop everything, BookTok! The Queen of Romantasy has finally spoken, and she didn’t just give us a crumb—she gave us the whole feast.
After five long, agonizing years of theories, fan-casting, and re-reading A Court of Silver Flames until the pages fell out, Sarah J Maas announces two new novels in the A Court of Thorns and Roses (ACOTAR) series. The blockbuster author broke the internet during a bombshell appearance on Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy podcast, revealing that not one, but two books are heading our way back-to-back.
Here is the juice on when we’re heading back to Prythian and what we know so far.
The publishing schedule is absolutely aggressive, and we are here for it. Bloomsbury has confirmed that the wait is almost over:
Yes, you read that right. We are getting two massive installments within just 11 weeks of each other. According to SJM, the story “poured out” of her during a summer in Montana, and it became so massive that it physically couldn’t be bound into one book. “No amount of glue in any publisher’s factory could ever hold this,” she joked during the interview.

While Sarah was tight-lipped about the official titles and POV characters, the fandom is already in a tailspin. The prevailing theory? It’s finally Elain Archeron’s time to shine.
Sarah hinted at exploring “free will” and “mating bonds,” specifically asking if nature ever “gets it wrong.” With the unresolved tension between Elain, Lucien, and the fan-favorite Shadowsinger Azriel, fans are bracing for a romantic tug-of-war that could tear the Night Court apart.
It’s not all sunshine and starlight, though. Sarah finally addressed those pesky rumors about the ACOTAR Hulu adaptation. While reports suggested the project was scrapped, SJM clarified that she has officially regained the rights to her work.
“I want to see everything adapted the way I envision it,” she said, making it clear that she isn’t willing to compromise on her vision just to please a network. For now, her focus is strictly on the books, but she teased that when the time is right, she wants to be the one in charge of bringing Rhysand to the big screen.
The sixth book is reportedly around 352 pages (a “bridge” of sorts?), while the seventh is a staggering 928-page tome. Whether you’re Team Azriel or Team Lucien, one thing is certain: the end of 2026 is going to be a very spicy time to be a reader.
