Twenty years after “The Office” debuted on NBC, a fresh chapter unfolds with “The Paper,” a new mockumentary series set in the same universe. Set to premiere September 4, 2025, on Peacock, the spin-off shifts focus from paper sales to a struggling small-town newspaper.

The Paper follows the fictional newsroom of The Truth Teller in Toledo, Ohio, where the publisher turns to volunteer reporters to keep the presses running. Just like “The Office,” this mockumentary captures the dysfunction, absurdity, and heart of everyday workplace life—this time in the world of local journalism.

The series is co-created by The Office’s Greg Daniels and Nathan for You’s Michael Koman. Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, creators of the original British “The Office,” also serve as executive producers. Much of the original crew returns to continue the documentary-style storytelling.
The cast also includes Chelsea Frei, Melvin Gregg, Ramona Young, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Alex Edelman, and Tim Key. While Nuñez is the only confirmed returning Office alum, John Krasinski and Jenna Fischer have expressed interest in appearing.
The series premieres September 4, 2025, exclusively on Peacock. While no trailer has been released yet, production began in mid-2024 and is likely wrapped or in post-production. Expect a sneak peek soon.
