Speaking on Thursday the online streaming device stated that it will unsubscribe members who are not frequently watching for a year or more and if the reason is not valid or if they don’t get any response then they will be cut off from the subscription.
Netflix also said that it has sent notification to subscribers who did not watch any of their favorites in the last one year from the time they have been part of it. Further, they are also checking with the customers whether they want to remain with their membership.
In a statement the firm said: “You know that sinking feeling when you realize you signed up for something but haven’t used it in ages? At Netflix, the last thing we want is people paying for something they’re not using.”
The unexpected process is now a witness to prove how loyal their subscribers are. Some of the firms are relieved to remove their association with their customers like bank accounts or credits.
The company also stated that the not so active users widely called as ‘zombie accounts’ will be just a handful of users or even less than 1% out of its entire users. With 182 million subscribers as of March 31st stated that it will easy for people who want to rejoin the online streamer.
Members who are wishing to make a comeback within 10 months will have their wish list, profile, their viewing options, and their account information as such.
Further, the Director of Product Innovation, Netflix said that: “In the meantime, we hope this new approach saves people some hard-earned cash.”
