Grab your electric guitars and wedding cake toppers — Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis are back, and this time, the body-swapping madness has multiplied. Freakier Friday (2025), directed by Nisha Ganatra, is less a calm stroll down memory lane and more a wild tango with two swapping duos, a pre-wedding disaster, and jokes that’ll make Millennials cackle while Gen Z just nod politely.

Same Plot, Double the Chaos

Two women in pajamas holding their faces and laughing in surprise inside a cozy bedroom.

Yes, the plot is the same as 2003’s Freaky Friday, but dialed up to sugar-high levels. There’s so much swapping, you might need a flowchart. One minute, mom’s playing pickleball in her daughter’s body; the next, the daughter is awkwardly tangoing in heels. And let’s not forget Curtis’ pharmacy scene — stockpiling senior-care products like she’s prepping for an apocalypse — or Lohan’s gloriously cringey flirting with Chad Michael Murray (yes, that Jake).

The comedy sometimes leans a little too manic, but there are genuine gems, like the Facebook-as-old-people-database gag that had every over-30 in the theater wheezing. By the finale, everyone’s learned their lesson, hugged it out, and probably sworn never to attend another wedding again.

Verdict

Chaotic? Yes. Over the top? Definitely. Worth it for the nostalgia and Lohan and Curtis chemistry? Absolutely. Two and a half stars — and a whole lot of pickleball points.
