Best Actress Nominee Michelle Yeoh Was Told To Retire From Acting And Here Is How She Responded

Possibly best known for her role as Bond girl Wai Lin in the 1997 blockbuster Tomorrow Never Dies, Malaysian-born actress Michelle Yeoh has had an illustrious career spanning over three decades. Recently the legendary actress was nominated for the 2023 Oscar Awards under the Best Actress category for her supernatural comedy-drama Everything Everywhere All at Once. 

While it is clear that Michelle Yeoh is a talented and versatile actress who is capable of delivering great performances in a wide variety of roles, she was urged by many to retire.

In a recent interview the actress revealed, “You know, as you get older, people start saying, ‘Oh yeah, you should retire. You should do this. You should…’ No, guys. Do not tell me what to do. I should be in control of what I am capable of, right?”

Yeoh made her film debut in the 1981 action movie For Your Eyes Only and quickly established herself as a formidable martial artist and actress. In recent years, she has continued to impress audiences with her exceptional performances, garnering critical acclaim and awards recognition.
