Snoop Dog and HFPA president Helen Hoehne announced the nominations on 13th December 2021. The show was organized after Amazon, Netflix, Warner Media, and various other media organizations/actors boycotted it.
While everybody wanted to host the ceremony in a grand manner, HFPA disregarded this request and went on with its plan to host the ceremony without hosts, guests and revealed the winner’s list via a press release. HFPA was boycotted after the organization requested to include a diverse membership plan. So, disputes aside, let’s focus on the award winners now.

- Composer Hans Zimmer wins his 3rd GG and has been nominated 15 times so far.
- Wills Smith was awarded the best actor for his role in ‘King Richard’.
- ‘The Power of The Dog’ and ‘West Side Story ‘was the most prominent movies that secured individual awards for themselves and their crew members.
- Succession, the TV series stole the show this year with top honors.
- Michaela Jae Rodriguez, an actress on the television series Succession made history on the 79th Golden Globes by becoming the first transgender to win the award.
