A full year before the curtains rise, Christopher Nolan’s next epic, ‘The Odyssey,’ is already making box office history. Imax tickets are officially going on sale on July 17, 2025, exactly one year ahead of its theatrical release. And no, this isn’t a drill.
But there’s a catch. These early bird tickets are exclusive to Imax 70mm screenings — Nolan’s signature format and will only be available for select showtimes at theaters equipped for the premium experience. Tickets for other formats? You’ll have to wait.

Coming off the blockbuster and Oscar-winning success of Oppenheimer, which grossed nearly $975 million worldwide, Nolan is clearly betting big on spectacle again. ‘The Odyssey’ is expected to follow that winning formula, blending action, prestige casting, and the grandeur of mythology with real-world visuals.
Matt Damon is stepping into the sandals of Odysseus, the king of Ithaca. Alongside him, the cast reads like a Hollywood dream:

Yes!!!
In yet another record-setting move, ‘The Odyssey’ will be the first feature film shot entirely on Imax cameras. Nolan’s obsession with the format has deep roots — he first dabbled with Imax in The Dark Knight and has stuck with it through Inception, Interstellar, Tenet, and Oppenheimer. Fans literally crossed state lines to see Oppenheimer in Imax 70mm — now, they’ll have a whole year to secure those coveted seats for The Odyssey.
While the rest of us wait for an official online teaser, lucky fans who watched Jurassic World Rebirth or Superman in theaters got an early peek at the minute-long teaser trailer. It hasn’t been released online yet, staying true to Nolan’s big-screen-first philosophy.
Mark your calendars ‘The Odyssey’ sails into theaters on July 17, 2026. And with tickets for Imax already dropping in July 2025, Universal and Imax are making it loud and clear: this one’s going to be a cinematic event of epic proportions.
